Kenny is a motor mouth trying every platform he can find to ingratiate himself with Trump and the Republicans.

At home, in Alberta, he if fudging the COVID numbers and none too carefully! He avoids the "R" number (estimate close to +2) and had not had two weeks of decline in the virus, Like the US epidemic, it is as bad as It is because of the Republican Party and Donald Trump. The US epidemic spiralled out of control because the US didn't react to it soon enough.

In Alberta Kenny allowed US employees in the oil industry to travel for their weekly visits into Washington and Oregon without isolating on return. The feds brought a stop to this. The fundamentalists' Christians running this party are opting in for Herd Immunization, let the bodies fall where they will.

The Conservative party formed in Canada from the US Republican party in 1902. Since that time they have been aping the US position in everything from pipelines to China. Trump is pressing China to mask his own incompetence.

The Coronavirus was identified in California in early January, in Germany in December and in France days later. They didn't know what it was any more than China did. These determinations were made by autopsy.

How to enforce Herd Immunization.

Kids appear to be susceptible to COVIS 19 they also appear to have a very slight illness from having it. 

Open schools too soon.
Send Kids to school, some may already be carriers (most likely) who can infect other kids.
Kids now infected can carry and distribute virus for 3 weeks without showing up on tests.
Same kids come back home and infect parents who may be easier to compromise.

The Conservative party is governed by Christian right-wing fundamentalists who are decided on Herd Immunization.

Conservative and COVID 19

This virus is a match made for our RNA, the single strand like DNA. I t is my understanding this RNA is pretty much the same in all species! We have it crossing species in the Bronx Zoo. Two of their big cats have contracted it. It has been transmitted to House Cats. What next? It is manifesting itself in COVID Toes. An ugly looking mess growing inside your feet.

 It is manifesting itself into blood clots that cover the skin and the major organs. Even the palms of your hands and soles of your feet, covered in blood blisters! Science is a long way of finding a vaccination for this thing! It is on any scale horrendous. As far as immunity goes, it is not known if you can reinfect or not. Quite probably you will use your immunization to become a carrier. Bats have been found to carry up to 5 COVID viruses very similar to COVID 19.

The Conservative movement is made up of Fundamentalist Christians. This is where you Anit-Vax movement comes from too. These same people are pushing for herd immunization even though, there is no proof that will fix anything! The Conservatives are worse than a Virus!

There is going to be no quick cure for this and thousands more are going to die from it! Scheer same as usual is critical of the Government but offers not a thing by way of doing something different.

S'funny, Karl, I was thinking the same thing, only I came to a completely different conclusion. It's time to excise the cancer of CHP/Reform from the Body Conservative. I think they've just about had long enough in the wilderness to realize that it's not serving them to retain anybody with even a whiff of brimstone and scripture about them. The Night of the Long Knives and all that, you know; re-enactments of the Crucifixion in about 150 ridings across the country.

Regardless of the accidental alignment of parts of Conservative policy platforms with the theocratic maunderings of Presto's Reform party, there is a little-to-no symbiosis between the thinking of either group.

Old-style conservativism valued heritage and tradition certainly but tempered that with an organic symbiosis of every individual in society, one with the other; that valued the contributions of each, while acknowledging the interdependence of each on the other so as to create a more perfect society. This is the root of conservative thinking that rejects the "nanny-state" so often (wrongly) assigned to liberals and Liberals. It's a valuable concept and one that bears serious debate in all our major national policy disagreements. Conservatism also highly respected and valued authority, both of people and institutions, which makes puzzling the call of the last couple of decades to reject the authority of Parliament as well as that of the judiciary, perhaps the key-value differentiating us from both "lower animals" and other less evolved nations on the planet. Yes, I'm kidding, but only partly.

CHP/Reform.... nay, call it what it is: Theocracy - is a poorly-organized and inconsistent set of beliefs about the way the world works based on texts from a number of ancient religions, most of which conflict with each other, especially around how society should be organized, resources apportioned, and justice performed. While claiming heritage as a value, in truth the only heritage claimed is a recent Judeo-Christian interpretation arising some 250 years ago that empowered the evangelical church to engage in civil rule, mandate conformity, and establish justice based on masculine notions of tribal pride. This interpretation carries no weight among those who own a red-letter Bible as its various precepts conflict with every single one of the quotations of Jesus.

Yet somehow this set of beliefs has come to be the dominant consensus among those who claim the theocratic authority to be supreme in the land. The organic symbiosis valued by Conservatives is entirely missing in such a society - conformity of thought word and deed is expected in every respect, and "interdependence" is pretty much restricted to depending on the sky god instead of your neighbour. That's not to negate the many acts of charity performed by evangelicals - in many ways, they strive to live out personal examples of selfless sacrifice, but these are not mostly sponsored by their churches, which remain country clubs for them and their kids, to hide away from impure society. More to the point, evangelicals also promote an unhealthy disrespect for authority, in particular, Parliament and the judiciary, and their foul utterances have unleashed venomous disrespect among ordinary Canadians who do not even share their beliefs, but see their rejection of authority as one without personal cost and emotionally satisfying to boot.

I'd love to do an essay on this, but I'm must here to respond to your article, Karl - a good one - as it's incomplete. Social conservatism, as you've defined it, includes the theocratic as well as the conservative. Let social conservatives be free to choose to march in pride parades or not as they feel led, and let the theocratic conservatives be free to rail against those who march in them.... but for God's sake, let them do it from separate bedrooms in the house of our nation!

I had still, another re-read of your essay and, again find it excellent. I'm going to repost on https://albertathedetails.b... The US Republicans moved into Canada under the name of the UFA in 1909. Charters etc. from the US have simply renamed from American to Canadian or Canada. Recently, Kenny tried to justify some of his moves as being in Convention with Conservative standards set down in 1909.

A remote possibility if the Cons should win.

Far different than our provincial elections, the Federal Election was almost honest.  I had my IP blocked by the National, The Global news, The Calgary Herald and the Edmonton Journal all on the last day of campaigning. Scheer must be in trouble.

If a Con government should happen to get in, they would immediately take all the restrictions off Beall Media and their 200 newspapers which, Harper installed into Canada and Trudeau neutered by legislation.  This will leave us under a Conservative umbrella with the media pounding out Conservative BS.  Frankly,  I don't see of any way of getting the Cons out of office again, it, this happens. 

Conservatives/Republicans are very rich now.

You will probably note the major news channels showing our loving neighbours to the south dressed in all their warmest splendour.   More to the point the recent airing of the "Alaska Highway build"

In which there is any number of smiling Americans huddled around the Dawson Creek "Mile Zero" sign signifying the start of the Alaska Hiway and how the friendly Americans pushed the road though.

It leaves the viewer with a warm and fuzzy feeling.   Don't buy it!  It is the Cons trying to show the Republicans in a good light.

Corporations are loading the Cons with donations.  They have never had so much money!

Canadian Politcal History.

As a one time Conservative Riding secretary and of an age greater than 90% of Canadians I offer this glimpse into our past.

The Liberals built Canada with little interruption to their base until 1919 to 1937 in which case the American Republicans working through the Morman Church, helped them establish "The United Farmers of Alberta"  This party morphed itself into the Veterans and Active force, 1944 to 1948, again the US Republicans were fully involved.

This morphed into the Conservatives which found a hard landing after Diefenbaker and the Avro-Arrow. (You now know the reason Diefenbaker scrapped the Arrow in Canada allowing the US to take up the design and ordered the only prototype of the Aero destroyed.) and, Harper sold off the Canadian Wheat Board to US interest in leaving office.  Related:

They again morphed into the Progressive Conservatives. This party was started by Peter Lougheed and company.  Peter broke away from the Republicans, in fact, took on US oil interests in Alberta in the much-maligned NATIONAL ENERGY PROGRAM.  Peter became the most popular Premier not only of Alberta but, all of Canada. A time of no internet, those with the money ruled the press.  A world recession stepped in and interest rates went to 25%.  Families invested in oil lost homes and there were a number of suicides  With no internet, those with the money ruled the press!  This was all blamed onto The NEP which was destroyed!

When Klein took over he doubled down with the US Republicans.  All this happening while the Wild Rose Party kept the original foundation going with the Church.  Now we had two political parties which could appear as opposition, one extreme and one tame by comparison.  Doing what they do best, played both ends against the middle.

Notably, Klein started the bleed on the Heritage Savings and Trust by freezing the fund at 5% profit taking all above into General Revenue to support his 10% flat tax.  The loss to Albertans 760 billion dollars most of which went directly back to US parent companies.  Norway over the same period banked over 1 trillion dollars. 

Klein also ushered in the Energy East plan.  At one point he was going to continue with Lougheed's plan of building a Refinery in Edmonton,  Then, Shell oil suggested it would be better for everyone if they built pipelines to the Gulf Coast to their refineries.   West pipelines were never considered as Shell's gulf refineries already had the market captured.

In a final analysis, I see the US is in a position to take over our country!  By putting in a Conservative Government again will facilitate the end of our Dairy Marketing board and any other institutions that may hinder this process.

For the record: Kenny and Harper were thrown out of every trade meeting they attended throwing the advantage to the US.  No one could be this unlucky!

More recently,  It allowed Harper to become a dictator in his own mind. Any conflict with a native group could be set aside by the Minister in charge. In action, it caused endless delays in the West coast pipeline. The US does not want us to ship off our west coast into Indochina and China!  

#C69 did away with two pieces of Harper/Kenny legislation National Energy Board Act: Replaced.s shipping off the west coast it will cut deeply into their markets in Indochina and China and, they will not be able to use their oil supply on or off as a bargaining chip!

Secondly: Canadian Navigable Waters Act; was changed by Harper/Kenny to a free-for-all. One outstanding item is the BC dam on the Peace River. A navigable river the dam was built and was criticized for not being able to produce enough electricity to pay for itself. It was however built to create a sump in the Peace River is suitable for drawing large amounts of water out of. 2/3 of the flow of the Peace River!!

Kenny/Scheer and his conservative friends are trying to kill the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion! Kenny was recently on TV opposite an environmental lawyer while jetting around the country. She was Trashing Tarns-Mountain expansion, he was sitting there, nodding and smiling his approval. 

The US does not want us shipping oil our west coast into Indonesia and China!  If they are allowed to kill the Trans Mountain Expansion, natives will lose their investments and  Canada will lose its investment into the expansion.

The Difference between Conservative and Liberal Governments.

As a one time secretary to a Conservative Riding association, I have insights that can be verified.

First off; the @Liberal Party is the one that built Canada.  They have been in office the majority of the time since Confederation.  The #Conservatives were started by the US Republicans in Southern Alberta and blossomed under the United Farmers Party of the day.

This party became the Conservative Party and very little has changed.  The Liberals prefer a pay as you go Government and continuing struggle to get into a surplus position to cover the crisis.  They have been paying down the deficits of every Conservative Government ever put in office!

This worldwide recession we have barely passed has left Canada, the USA, and the rest of the world with the single exception of Luxembourg on a deficit financing plan.

Conservatives say they will reduce the taxes for everyone.  This is the standard fare.  Consider who gets the most significant breaks; you, or the 10 million dollar company who probably pays the same amount of taxes you do.  Like the 10% tax, it downloads costs onto the lower and middle incomes.

Klein started robbing the Heritage Savings and Trust fund by limiting it's profits to 5% per year.  Everything above 5% went into General Revenues to be used as taxes.   All this time telling Albertans we were getting 30% royalties. This is where the money came from to run 10% taxes. This move lifted 760 Billion dollars from the Heritage Trust fund!

 Norway who has 1/2 the output that Alberta does has over a Trillion dollars in the bank.  How much is a Trillion?  A trillion seconds back in time we would be with the Dinosaurs!

They are also against the social nature of the Canadian makeup at different times citing the CPP as being a subsidy and contrary to the welfare of the private industries.  It should be privatized.  They do not mention the Canadian CPP is the envy of the world.

Health care is still another they keep beating on it should be private practice and private practice only!  Ralph Klein, the Alberta Premier called it "the third rail" referring to the third power track on electric railroads.  He then put us on to total privatization by changing health care so it matched the Oregon model.

Most of this country is younger than I am.  I thought a lesson in our history would be useful.
   

Deficit financing is a global plan, not an accident.

That is correct!  Every country in the world with exception of Luxembourg is heavily involved in deficit financing now and too many years into the future.  Even Norway!

The world economy has crashed!  Trading partners went broke.  The most sought-after customers or accounts are those with the heaviest deficit!  China who can rock the world's boat easily is the highest deficit while embarking heavily on financing Nuclear plants around the world, a profitable segment for them.

William Vickrey, awarded the 1996 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, commented:

Deficits are considered to represent sinful profligate spending at the expense of future generations who will be left with a smaller endowment of invested capital.

This fallacy seems to stem from a false analogy to borrowing by individuals. Current reality is almost the exact opposite. Deficits add to the net disposable income of individuals, to the extent that government disbursements that constitute income to recipients exceed that abstracted from disposable income in taxes, fees, and other charges. This added purchasing power, when spent, provides markets for private production, inducing producers to invest in additional plant capacity, which will form part of the real heritage left to the future. This is in addition to whatever public investment takes place in infrastructure, education, research, and the like. Larger deficits, sufficient to recycle savings out of a growing gross domestic product (GDP) in excess of what can be recycled by profit-seeking private investment, are not an economic sin but an economic necessity. Deficits in excess of a gap growing as a result of the maximum feasible growth in real output might indeed cause problems, but we are nowhere near that level.

Even the analogy itself is faulty. If General Motors, AT&T, and individual households had been required to balance their budgets in the manner being applied to the Federal government, there would be no corporate bonds, no mortgages, no bank loans, and many fewer automobiles, telephones, and houses.

This leaves in Alberta the Wild Rose Party and the Conservative Party whining doom and gloom but neither will  step up to the plate and tell the people it was their policy and their extravagance and philosophy that put us in this situation; worldwide; not just Alberta and Canada who both are in better shape than most of the world.

What can you expect out of a Jason Kenny?   He views Trump as a success by every measure.  Worships Trump you might say.  And, you can expect him to follow Trump's example in finance and administration to the letter right up until Trump is impeached.

Keep in mind Alberta would be in a much different position had the Conservatives not drained the Heritage Trust fund dry of some 780 billion dollars!  And, on Kenny's advise Trudeau marched out a whole string of lies about our economy and his phantom surplus.  (Kenny is noted for writing much of Harper's speeches and press releases.  His biggest asset is an Ego, a very large one.

Trump has ripped up all the Environmental agreements because there is nothing we can do about it anyway.  Trump has cut funding to seniors, the poorest feeling the largest cuts.  For some reason, his daughter now has access to all the top secret defense data in the US.  This is why I suggest an impeachment is sure to follow.

Climate change and the state of the world is drastic.

Due to continued rising sea levels and accelerated calving of glaciers increasing wave action; I predict the locations of the massive flooding in the US will soon become uninhabitable and the source of mass migration unlike any we have seen to date!  Likewise islands and coastal cities throughout the world.

For years we have been told to turn down our heat, don't idle our vehicles so long etc. and nothing came of it! Now we have no choices. There is a hope the carbon tax will encourage this kind of thinking.  Conservative rail against it but offer no solutions.  The Wild Rose Party are in complete denial as are most Conservatives.  Their policy and action come from the LDS Church as does most of their candidates. The Mormon church has more cash on hand than most countries!

The arctic tundra is melting which can release a further 2.5 times the CO2 than is present in the atmosphere.  Earth orbit is elliptical and we are moving away from the sun as we should be but, rather than cool off we are still heating up! Ocean currents are changing, the oceans are rising!  Currents and changing and sharks and "southern" species are showing up in "northern" waters.

Greenland's ice is melting fast as is Antarctica and the arctic causing sea level to start rising.  Along with our glaciers where we get our drinking water from, receding rapidly adds greatly to our problems.
If we don't get this heating under control we will fail as the human race! Cities by the ocean will start flooding and you will witness a migration that will stagger your imagination!

Waves are gnawing at the cliffs of Herschel Island!  The town of Tuktoyaktuk which for comparison was palm size is now thumb size and the tundra, in general, is eroding now; into the arctic ocean.  This, in turn, will accelerate heating of the Arctic because of the dark particles in the water.
Earth orbit is elliptical; we are moving away from the sun as we should.  We are into a 5000-year journey to apex  But; we are still heating rather than cooling as we should be!  Then, it's 5000 years back to circular around the sun.
Conservatives tried, and even argue for carbon cap and trade with does nothing for the environment and gives corporations a huge tax deduction at one end and a huge tax credit on
The world, not just  Canada and Alberta is moving towards carbon charges. There is no other way.  PM Trudeau was recently in meetings with the Saudi.  The Saudi announced billions to invest in silicon sun generation was one outcome.  Get used to wearing a sweater and turn down your dam thermostat and air conditioning. 

Pumping carbon dioxide down the hole in as they do in Saskatchewan results in an explosion of carbon dioxide out of the hole running for many hours ahead of any oil showing up and sounding like a jet plane but conservative is after the residual oil in those fields.
On the other hand, there is news of mixing carbon dioxide with cement; holding it firm and making the cement last longer too.

Fritz said the majority of the coastline on Herschel Island, like much of the Arctic, is subject to erosion in the summer when the sea ice retreats.

When that coast is eroded, the nutrient-rich soil mixes with the seawater and creates massive plumes of sediment. Fritz said the effect that murky water has on the marine ecosystem is unknown.
"With that sediment comes a lot of carbon and lot of nutrients, and those nutrients and pollutants will affect the water column," he said.
"We ask ourselves the question 'with this higher load of sediments, of nutrients and also of pollutants, what is happening with the food web' and we don't know."

Scientists are predicting catastrophic lake drainage now.
When Conservatives rail against a carbon tax, they are in denial of our circumstances.   Our economy will adjust to the new realities and ongoing abrupt changes.  Abrupt? Yes; they will accelerate.

All this on top of a world presently in recession and a position of universal deficit spending again, not just Canada and Alberta but the world!!
And to put it on an entirely different scale:  Thirty years ago there was little or no conversation on Climate Change.  A few scientists were shouting through the darkness about it but, nothing showing up in the weather!
In just this 20 years we have progressed to wild weather patterns, all extremes.  Floods, Fires, tidal surges and wave actions.  Tornados and Hurricanes around the world.

Now we see the Arctic Tundra melting which has two times as much Carbon Dioxide and Methane in it as does our present atmosphere!  

What kind of a horrid situation are we going to be facing in just another 20 years?

Party time for the NDP and Conservatives!

From ice buckets to emails from Notley telling of Conservative endorsements from across the board are a twice a day event.

With the Alberta Liberal Party leading in all the polls and the Wild Rose Party pretty much pushed back down the hole from which they came the Conservatives found a new buddy to split the left vote.

If they can swing anything away from the Alberta Liberals to the NDP its a win for them yet again.

Dig in folks; The Alberta Liberals remain the one clear choice for a right wing sensible Government!  Don
t be swayed the the theatrics in the public media.

Redford's Expensive Gambit.

Across the media you are reading about how very busy the Conservatives are.  The latest is funding a major meeting in New York costing Albertans millions.  All this in the thrust of oil principals telling of a Glut an oil in Alberta that doesn't exist anywhere else on the planet.

Our production is down 300,000 bbls per day right now because of a coker schedualed maintence at Syncrude!

The overall thrust: We are going to hell in a basket and the Conservatives are busy saving us!
It just ain't so Elmer!

Schools are being closed.  The reason given is no funding.  The truth is they are setting you up for private schools as they short you on public facility.  Exactly the same thing is happening in the facilities in place to care for the elderly!  Its all about following the Conservative agenda.

Mismanagement if not outright thievery  has cost Alberta billions and their stuck in the mud view of the market in general. 

They are trying to bury you in BS; have you forget they have cost each household hundreds of thousands of dollars in their chicainary!

The Conservatives are using this BS tail of hardship so they do not have to change the discount (Brent pricing) on our oil, conventional and tar sands.

Alberta has sufficient pipeline to move all the oil we can produce for the next ten years!  The panic is India will not put cash into a new development unless there is a west coast pipeline in place!

Consider for a moment; this same BS has been going on for months now and absolutly nothing, nothing at all  has come of it!   All the players in their games are Conservative Governments from other  provinces!

The basis for their action lay in the Conservative/Republican private club and the plans they have made that are being dismantled.  This association embraces the whole Conservative Party, not just the western premiers.

Lastly, this same group of Conservatives, now entrenched in provincial Governments in Canada can demand the Fed (regarless of party in power) to open the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and change anything they want to in that precious document!  As it stands right now; no one can stop them.

They are, simply put, dismantling Canada!

Redford's Fireside (Not!)

Key points and misconceptions.

Firstly; Remember Klein on his fireside saying read his lips; they are not going to privatize health care!  Some things never change. 

In excess of 70 Billions of dollars have been sucked from the Heritage Trust Fund!

She said they would start adding money to the Heritage Trust fund which hasn't been added to in 25 years.

 Truth is:  For 25 years this Government has frozen the investment profits of the Heritage Savings and Trust fund at  5%.  Everything above was pulled out and sent to General Revenues where it was used to reduce taxes for the Oil Concerns chiefly and small business, just a bit.  Individuals got next to nothing.  In this period of time there was a long inflation stretch where profits should have been in the 25% range..

This makes Albertans the highest taxed state in North America if not the world!

For all intents and purpose the Heritage Trust was robbed and the money sent down pipelines to the US parent companies. It  wouldn't have been any faster as a bank transfer!

This is another gross misconception; as close to a blatant, outright lie as one is going to get.  It is a far greater transgression than a spin doctor campaign.

The oil is extracted from the Bitumen along with High and Low vapor bases used in blending gasoline's and diesel fuels.   The resulting mix is a low volatile oil; cleaner than anything you will pull from the ground by conventional means.

The WTI; The Brent; The West Texas Crude are designations in markets that indicate impurities, not API or the Weight of the mix  Sulphur  is the key indexer.   Tar Sands crude is Sulphur  free!  It should be priced with the highest  priced market out there! 

In order  to get enough vapor base into the Tar Sands Crude, pristine sulphur free natural gas is added to the mix to bring it to the proper market desired vapor pressure to blend diesels and various gasoline.

Not only is it oil, but it is oil that has been tailored to the refineries it is going to!

You may recall a couple years  ago Natural Gas wells North of High Level were shut in by the Government .  This gas was needed for the blend.  There was never any news of the compensation given to the oil companies who owned the wells.  You can however bet it was the taxpayers who paid the price for it.

In addition, the refineries in the US only have to heat the oil a bit to get their blends.  This gives the US a low carbon foot print and Alberta wears the roses for the dirty part of the equation.

She has said we are loosing 6 billion dollars short this year in oil revenues.   Lets be more specific  here.  This is not  royalty; they are zilch.  It is the taxes off the various plants and shipping facilities.  And, according to the Conservatives (It doesn't  matter who is the leader) taxes is all we are entitled to as Albert ans.

She alluded to getting more for the oil at some nebulous time in the future.  It is time to speak of patterns here.  Stelmach popped out  PDF showing impossible royalty rates going into the future.  This was on the Eve of an election and no time to debate it.   At the bottom of the page was 6 pt print saying all revenues are taken in Canadian dollars.  That one line meant that we took an 18% cut in royalty at that point in time!
