Canada Immigration Conservative style.

Kenny is making noises about the foreign workers in the fast food industry.  They are a "soft" target for him.  It allows him big noise in the newspapers but no risk politically.  He is misleading the public by pushing the headline "

Ottawa ponders tougher measures concerning temporary foreign workers

Which, is not the truth.  He is only after the one industry.

The Conservatives fouled the nest; now a weak attempt at cleaning it out. Alberta was busted on the net for having illegal immigrants as a majority of workers in the oil patch.

Harper/Kenny jumped in with new immigration laws. Anyone with a job in Alberta could apply for and get citizenship immediately with no background checks; no vetting; nothing! Alberta set up offices for immigration lawyers to pump the people thought the gate!

Meanwhile, McMurray was troubled with what was named the Russian Mob in drug trafficking and the police couldn't get on top of it. Now, these same people hold Canadian citizenships and because there is no vetting there is no basis to deport them! What a mess!

The rules couldn't be made for Alberta only so they applied across Canada.

They went a mile further; any prospective employer could vouch for an immigrant to get them into the country and receive citizenship when they arrived. Again; no vetting. To enhance the citizenship service applications were made available at airports so immigrants going to perspective job interviews could take a copy with them so the "new" employer could sign them into Canada.

No matter the amount of tinkering the Conservatives do the system will now not respond! They broke it. Watch the crime statistics climb!

US employees at oil sands allowed to skip isolation when returning to work.

Kenny and his nefarious "war room" have declared oil workers as been "essential"  among other things, they will not have to follow the isolation and separation rules!   The industry uses staff from the USA who are in transit regularly.

Kenny has just put the lives of all Albertans at risk and opened the province for a full explosion of the Virus! You can't protect yourself from this.  The UCP is a greater danger to our health than the Novid 19 Virus!

And, with 3.5 million unemployed in the USA, the highest number ever, there will be pressure on the US companies in the Tar Sands to employ US.

This has happened before, the Drilling companies hired over a thousand from the oil patch in Oklahoma which was on hard times.  When busted, the Conservatives sent lawyers into the oil patch with citizenship papers for them to fill out.  Oil defended itself by says it was better to hire experienced out of Oklahoma than newbies out of Alberta.

Emergency funds: Don't give in to Scheer's BS!

Scheer has spent the past four years lying to you on all things!  Above all, he has shown no regard for the parliamentary system!  Giving him control over the cash flow for this emergency measure will simply give him the power to direct it all to Companies of his choosing.  

Just look at the bill, Trump put forward, south of the border, everything for corporations, nothing for individuals. 

Don’t get caught up in Scheer’s BS!   The man has spent the last four years lying to you and look at how that turned out!   The Liberals proposals will allow them to control borrowing and spending directly and is what we need now.   It also allows the Government to move resources as in medical needs between provinces and cut back on provincial hoarding and engage the Federal procurement programs directly for large, impartial savings.

The proposed legislation protects Canada from a corrupt Conservative Government.

 

As written, the special privilege would expire December 2021 at which point, we will still be up to our necks in Covis 19 and the US will be the most dangerous place on earth.

Something to consider...
There are a variety of discussions and tweets online about seniors and Covid-19. Some of them, too many, expose what one tweet describes as "our built-in callousness toward the elderly". While some groups are forming to offer those who are in self-isolation the support they may need, others are discussing how it may save money and resources if nature were allowed to take its course. Some are joking. Some are dismissive.

How is it that on one hand, we know that many people work until 65, some work beyond, and are deemed active, experienced, knowledgeable and a resource, and then, a short five years later are deemed expendable? Has the fact that governments are asking seniors to consider working past 65 because they are needed in some jobs ever entered the minds of some?

How does a person adjust to the fact that one day, at 64 years and 364 days they are an asset, and one day later they are not? Add five more years, and some are still in the workforce, most not, but most still active, vital, engaged in their communities, fully in control of their faculties, and with a world of experience to share, but are suddenly deemed somehow not of worth? They spend, they pay taxes, they travel, they visit, they offer endless hours of voluntary work, they are fully functioning persons who worked, and suddenly, are not worthy? How is this possible? Some may have health issues. Many will not, or their issues are fully controllable. They may have another ten, fifteen or twenty years, some more, to live life as fully as they want, or can.

Society has shifted to a youth focus. Attitudes change due in large part to marketing, and advertising pushing a variety of biases. To become dismissive of an entire generation and more, because of life taking its normal course, well that deserves some thought and societal self-reflection.

How does one move from seeing someone as fully human and functioning, a contributing member of society, to being something other, and disposable? They aren't different because their days of being in the workforce are over. They aren't a burden. They are a source of knowledge, and strength brought to them by their years of life. Just as one would hope that all lives are valuable, cared about, one could hope that the collective callousness is a passing faux-pas, a slip, a lapse of thought and judgement, to be dismissed from acceptable social behaviour. People are more than workers. Has that lesson been lost?

Reasons not to go to the USA!

From There was a CBC news article day-before-yesterday that interviewed a Doctor in Washington who explained the US system makes it dam near impossible to track viruses. This was in answer to the units Trump said he was putting on roadsides next to large gatherings. The physician went so far as to site the universal coverage in Canada making these controls possible.

US has done almost no testing. Trump refused the WHO test kits, insisted they use only US-made ones. Which had to be made - the first lot proved to not work, so they had to start making others. Then Clinics were not permitted to test without Govt approval, & clinics were reporting asking & being refused.

Doctors have publicly stated that the numbers of verified cases being released are a very gross underestimate of the number of actual cases. And without that accuracy, there is no tracking, no prevention. It is a mess there imo.

Also comparison of numbers, ages etc is not consistent between countries on who gets tested, whether there are symptoms or not. They are speculating that high death rates maybe related to factors like young people having few symptoms & so never get tested some places - if young not tested & only positives are among older people, then death rates will appear higher.

Lots we can't say yet - except to help Prevent by using what we do know about prevention!

Internet service in Alberta (Probably Canada)

I went into my Shaw account in response to a call from Telus who offered me the same channel line up I had on Shaw for 125.00 per month as opposed to the 200.00 I am paying Shaw.

Shaw danced me around for half an hour and came up with a plan that was 3 dollars less than the existing plan although they are offering the same plan as an original sign in at 175.00 per month.

Today I turned on my Blue Sky TV and went to BBC world news.  To my suprise it has been changed to BBC Canada and I can rent it for 4 bucks a month.  Now, I'm told by Bell Media that I have the best deal in the world going and it is the same one I had before renewal.

Notably, Telus was taking a storm in speed not realizing I was not on Glass Lines, I am on Copper. Which made those speeds impossible.

The Shaw modern modem they install won't give pumped service to our many phones, pads and so on.  I had to buy doublers from shaw for this.

I put this up as a guideline on what you might ask of your IP providers.

Covid 19 Viruses- special note.

The coronavirus is in no way similar to H1N1 !  It is an entirely different beastie!   As such it will take a year, perhaps 2 years to produce a vaccine for it!  There is no cure in sight, only your own immune system with your personal limitations.  We have never seen anything like this before!

Covid19 is contracted by direct contact, not airborne!

Wash your hands, don't touch your face with your hands!  Avoid crowds.

Covid Virus:Facemasks are pretty much useless

Hope Ludlow Aldridge Masks are pretty useless as Protection against Covid19.
Their only use would be if you have the virus or suspect you do, & Must go to the hospital or somewhere (highly unusual, they usually do a home visit) - then you wear a mask to protect other people.
The best Prevention is GOOD Hand Washing - Warm water & Soap!!

The outer layer of the Covid Virus is lipids & warm water/Soap helps dissolve/break up that! Wash for at least 30 seconds scrubbing hands over & over every surface - front, back, sides, between fingers, around fingertips & thumbs, & wrists - then again!!

Then rinse, dry with a paper towel, .......... then turn off taps & open washroom door with a towel -- remember you opened & turned them on with dirty hands!!

IF not at home, use Sanitizer - must be 60-70% alcohol!
Forget the fancy words, or friend's great ideas - Warm water & Soap first, 70% alcohol next!!!
