WE Committee II the phoney committee

#The @Conservatives and @NDP after finding out they had nothing to argue about, turned the whole meeting into a propaganda display.  Repeating questions up to 5 times about numbers which had previously been proven false.

Pierre Povair even invoked the RCMP asking if the Government had taken calls from them recently.  This is a play on some kind of letter written to the RCMP by someone in the committee (probably Pierre).

Point is anyone can write a letter to the RCMP on anything they want.   It doesn't mean the letter has merit!

The Conservatives and NDP have turned this committee into a propaganda circus supplying globe media with a series of one Liners they can run with, not having to explain anything.

These same video cuts will be played back during the next election.

• Debra Pain Mallon Considering the amount of money that is involved for the students I feel that The PM & the finance minister should be allowed to sit in on those discussions & asked for their professional input when needed. All parties have ties with the WE organization. Maybe the ethics regulations need to be changed for situations like this, after all, we have never gone through a pandemic & the liberals were only trying to find a way so our kids could continue their education. As far as the NDP wanting an election that is a joke & it shows you that Singh as a leader should step down. NDP is broke & they can not afford another election. The Bloc & the NDP have no chance of even becoming the opposition so why are they siding with the Cons? As far as the Cons go their #'s have gone down because they have stopped our kids from getting the education they need all because they falsely accuse JT & the liberals of being corrupt when all JT & the finance minister did wrong according to the ethics regulations was not accuse themselves because of their families having ties with WE. How much money & time is going to be wasted on this matter just so Dion will say that the ethic rules were broken but not in intent & no laws were broken & no crime has been committed. The Liberal government has done an excellent job & that alone just bugs Scheer. This is a personal grudge that Scheer has towards JT & why do the taxpayers have to pay for Scheer's jealousy? Scheer wants to go out with a bang & instead he will go down with egg on his face & cause his party to lose more votes which makes me very happy. Bye-bye Scheer-loser!!

  John Clark It was entertaining to note the NDP trying to shout their questions after their time run out as if say loud is best in making a point. They had a lot laying on this having initialized the complaint on Mo in Saskatchewan. When the facts started to roll out they got pretty noisy but, it didn't help. I would imagine Mo is feeling a sense of relief. What really surprised me was the RBC weighing in after the Brothers had adequately explained everything. Remember we are dealing with a bunch of MPs who did not win the election, they stole it with the help of Bell Media and their post media cohorts.

Is the 2.1 billion dollars missing from AIMCO sitting in General Revenues?

AIMCO is not arm's length from the government.  Under the last Conservative Government, Jim Prentice, they stole 7 million dollars from the Government pension funds, then, denied doing so for 6 weeks.  At that point the union threatened to take AIMCO to court and the Government capitulated and put the money back into the pensions.  The loss of AIMCO was explained as poor performance in the market, just like the present loss of 2.1 billion dollars.

Kenny made the moves of building a pipeline to North Dakota, going nowhere, not targeting any market then, it was cancelled by US Republican intervention. 

It is my opinion, Kenny lifted the 2.1 billion dollars from AIMCO and dropped it into general revenues.  If we had a securities commission that was worth anything, this could be verified.   Another good reason to give the Federal Securities authority in Alberta.

First off, they would fire all the teachers.  Then, they would look at how much money was just laying there and move it into the pockets of their friends.  The Students?  They would see nothing, the Conservatives prefer to hire degrees out of the US than support University Education In Canada.

Extreme?  Not at all; this is their history.

The search for the Virus and PPE

The notion that one country should horde anything in a Pandemic is insane! It is the same b.s. that happens with people fleeing their countries because of war and many saying they need to stay home.  One of the reasons stock was sent to China was because the best before date was coming up very fast and Canada had stock in the hospitals but not that much in cases. Other countries did the same, and that was because they wanted the virus eliminated at the source, not wait and see what happens. The virus spread quickly and Science was trying to get a handle on it not entirely trusting what China was saying. Asian countries that had experience SARS went into action asap, like South Korea.  In Europe Germany got on it with suppression and testing, while countries like Italy seemed to be going to wait it out until they found out how bad that was. Meanwhile, Canada was looking for supplies and down south was buying up everything they could get their hands on including interfering in shipments to our country.  Companies came forward and said they could produce and the Gov't listened and got a dollar amount together to support those companies selected to make different kinds of masks, ventilators, hand sanitizer, and they put money behind research for a cure. Once ramped up supplies were moving across the country and more and more lab-confirmed information was coming about the virus.  Seems pretty easy to sit back and quarterback, but it is a waste of money and time if you run to put what you think is a fire because there is smoke only to find out there is no fire.  Canada is a large, vast, country and we have witnessed how great we are when an unknown enemy, the virus, attacks. Now just wait and see what we can do when we know the enemy!

As far as his statement of making North America self-sufficient, the  US is already self-sufficient without Canadian oil but, you can see where Kenny's sentiments lay.

This will result in billions spent and no more than 500 Canadian jobs.

Kenny's wonder plan- simply not so!

Pipeline XL-East is to revamp an existing natural gas pipeline to move oil to Nova Scotia.  Irving oil will receive it and ship it by the ocean to supply Cushing Ill.  Same as the rail cars are now doing.

I haven't heard of any of the other provinces allowing it to cross!  Notably, Quebec who continues to refuse it.

The money to finance this will come from AIMCo again which shows how irresponsible the UCP actually are.

Why? So they can short shipments through the Transmountain pipeline as the US does not want us shipping off our west coast and there are no markets other than Cushing Ill. available to us on our east coast.

The thousands of jobs he is talking about will probably not be Alberta and will be in the hundreds.

The US is self-sufficient in oil supplies now!  This will simply be an exercise to drain pension funds.

Kenny trying once again to Kill Trans Mountain expansion!

The new, proposed pipeline to the Dakota Border is another direct assault on the Trans-Mountain expansion.  The move burns up pension funds with no market insight!  Think of the future arguments, the Canada Pension Fund (Trans-Mountain Expansion) and the Alberta public Pension funds (AIMCo) going head to head on a limited resource.  The UCP will argue it is the Fed who are putting the public pensions at risk, not the Conservatives.   It is advertised to the Dakota Border, not across it. This is to avoid crossing a border giving the Feds authority. A US company will pick it up on the south side of the border.

More important, there is no mention of the diameter of the pipe or the product it is to move.  This brings forward the Spectre of the Weatherford Project, named after the company that designed it.  The purpose is to move 2/3 the flow of the Peace River to the  US Dakota border.  With 1/3 left the river will die.

Nursing Home Horror story.

This post is directed to the multitude of irate #commenters I see on any number of public media outlets.  I ask you, how could you not know?


I ask, how can you even pretend to be irate?  You and a generation before you allowed for organizations to warehouse people in their declining years.  Gone from sight, gone from mind.

When on an occasional visit you seen your #ancient parent or grandparent in her bed with a black eye,  did you think to take her out of the home?  Probably not.  The reason she has a black eye is because the old person in the bed three feet away from her gets up every night and beats the crap out of her.

And, the caregivers?  Why is there not a register for them to sign onto and get an approval to sign off like a marine book?   I recall seeing an old lady, early 90s, being taken by her arms and thrown roughly into a chair where she floundered trying to get upright in the chair.   The guy left the room laughing at the old woman's struggle.   The video was viral, the caregiver was terminated but there is no record of where he went onto work.

Some families mounted their own video units in the rooms and have caught massive brutality of the senior.  These have been put on the net and circulated for years.

I remember 20 years ago talking to a colleague about ideas of investing in old age, there is a wave coming at us.  Must be a way to make a buck.  (This was in the US)  A for-profit nursing home has their first responsibility to their shareholders!

What is missing in the ageing process is a support mechanism to look after these people by their families which, is very difficult.  More so if there is dementia involved.

I say again to those irate posters, how could you not know what was going on?  The information has been out for you to access for a long time!   This is not totally a government problem.   It starts with you making up your mind your mom, dad or grandparents are going to get more than "warehouse" treatments and care!

This is a pandemic of its own.  Same practices are throughout the USA.  Most Canadian private companies are  US owned and operated.

Kenny pays staff more than he "saved" cutting jobs!

@.jkenney has 19 staffers, each earning between $100,000 to $224,000 annually, working directly for Kenney in the Premier’s Office. 10 of these positions (highlighted) never existed before. It’s a partisan political red tape machine paid for by taxpayers.   This should make everyone in Canada upset.  Ontario, with more than 3 times the population of Alberta, has 22 people who earned more than $100,000 in the Office of the Premier in 2019.

   Who else is running the Government?  Stakeholders? #

As a one time Conservative Riding secretary and of an age greater than 95% of Canadians I offer this glimpse into our past.

 

The Liberals built Canada with little interruption to their base until 1909 to 1937 in which case the American Republicans working through the Mormon Church, helped them establish "The United Farmers of Alberta"  This party morphed itself into the Veterans and Active force, 1944 to 1948, again the US Republicans were fully involved.  They then went Federal as the Conservative Party.

 

This morphed into the Conservatives which found a hard landing after Diefenbaker and the Avro-Arrow. (You now know the reason Diefenbaker scrapped the Arrow in Canada allowing the US to take up the design and ordered the only prototype of the Aero destroyed.) and, Harper sold off the Canadian Wheat Board to US interest in leaving office.  Additional record of Avro Aero

They again morphed into the Progressive Conservatives. This party was started by Peter Lougheed and company.  Peter broke away from the Republicans, in fact, took on US oil interests in Alberta in the much-maligned NATIONAL ENERGY PROGRAM.  Peter became the most popular Premier not only of Alberta but, all of Canada.   A world recession stepped in and interest rates went to 25%.  Families invested in oil lost homes and there were a number of suicides  With no internet, those with the money ruled the press!  This was all blamed onto The NEP which was destroyed!

When Klein took over he doubled down with the US Republicans.  All this happening while the Wild Rose Party kept the original foundation going with the Church.  Now we had two political parties which could appear as opposition, one extreme and one tame by comparison.  Doing what they do best, playing both ends against the middle.

 

Notably, Klein started the bleed on the Heritage Savings and Trust by freezing the fund at 5% profit taking all above into General Revenue to support his 10% flat tax.  The loss to Albertans 760 billion dollars most of which went directly back to US parent companies.  Norway over the same period banked over 1 trillion dollars with just half the production of Alberta!

 

Klein also ushered in the Energy East plan.  At one point he was going to continue with Lougheed's plan of building a Refinery in Edmonton,  Then, Shell oil suggested it would be better for everyone if they built pipelines to the Gulf Coast to their refineries.   West pipelines were never considered as Shell's gulf refineries already had the market captured.

 

In a final analysis, I see the US is in a position to take over our country!  By putting in a Conservative Government again will facilitate the end of our Dairy Marketing board and any other institutions that may hinder this process.  Kenny is working to eliminate us from the CPP for no other reason than the division of Alberta from Canada.

 

For the record: Kenny and Harper were thrown out of every trade meeting they attended throwing the advantage to the US.  No one could be this unlucky!

 

More recently,  

#Bill  C69  It allowed Harper to become a dictator in his own mind. Any conflict with a native group could be set aside by the Minister in charge. In action, it caused endless delays in the West coast pipeline.  C69 did away with two pieces of Harper/Kenny legislation National Energy Board Act: Replaced. S shipping off the west coast it will cut deeply into their markets in Indochina and China and, they will not be able to use their oil supply on or off as a bargaining chip!

 

Secondly: Canadian Navigable Waters Act; was changed by Harper/Kenny to a free-for-all. One outstanding item is the BC dam on the Peace River. A navigable river the dam was built and was criticized for not being able to produce enough electricity to pay for itself. It was however built to create a sump in the Peace River is suitable for drawing large amounts of water out of. 2/3 of the flow of the Peace River!!

 

This brings me to the #Weatherford Project. So named after the company who designed and specked it.

Weatherford is immensely designed to move 2/3rds of the flow of the Peace River to the US border. If Conservatives build this Canadian's will pay for the build so the US can get cheap water.

 

The design calls for 4 large diameter pipelines and 6 pumping stations. Each pumping station to use the electrical power of a city!

Report ‘buried’ by Alberta government reveals ‘mounting evidence’ that oil and gas wells aren’t reclaimed in the long run

A previously unreleased report obtained by The Narwhal shows a government division — soon to be scrapped by premier Jason Kenney — raised red flags about the province’s failing system for wellsite cleanup

The Narwhal has obtained a previously unreleased report commissioned by the Alberta government that raises red flags about whether the government’s own program to ensure oil and gas sites are cleaned up is actually working in the long term. 

The 55-page report, obtained through a freedom of information request, cites “mounting evidence” that Alberta’s land reclamation program is not ensuring former oil and gas sites meet regulatory requirements in the long run, and instead confirms that, of the sites studied so far by an internal government pilot project, all but one failed to meet the government’s standards.

A former senior government official (who asked to remain anonymous) with knowledge of the report told The Narwhal that releasing the report was “seen as an extreme risk to the department” and that there was “extreme pushback” against it being made public. 

The former official described the report as a “valuable piece of science” and one “that needed to be publicly reported.”

But “politically inconvenient” reports, the official said, were often “buried” within the department, regardless of the government in power.

The province’s United Conservative Party (UCP) government has indicated that the office that has been working on this research — the environmental monitoring and science department — will soon be eliminated, and its staff “integrated” into other government departments.

‘The public needs to know that this land is being degraded’

There are nearly half a million oil and gas well sites in Alberta, covering an estimated 400,000 hectares — an area approximately five times the size of Calgary. 

For the last century, oil and gas companies have made a promise to Albertans — that the wells they’ve drilled across the province would one day be cleaned up. Companies promised that land would be returned to just as good as before drilling, sometimes even boldly claiming it would end up even better.

The Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, the legislation that governs how companies must act to protect the environment, requires that operators — like those drilling oil and gas wells — fulfill “the objective of protecting the essential physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the environment against degradation.”

But the report finds that the government’s reclamation certificate program is unable to ensure this is happening in the long run.

The government updated its reclamation criteria in 2010, requiring cleaned-up well sites to achieve a sort of equivalence with nearby land. The government issues certificates to sites to mark them as officially cleaned up, called reclamation certificates. 

However, many reclaimed sites are not actually reclaimed at all, according to the report. 

In farmer’s fields, the exact outlines of well pads may be clearly visible through crop degradation. 

Kenny goes beyond now telling lies in the US.

Kenny is a motor mouth trying every platform he can find to ingratiate himself with Trump and the Republicans.

At home, in Alberta, he if fudging the COVID numbers and none too carefully! He avoids the "R" number (estimate close to +2) and had not had two weeks of decline in the virus, Like the US epidemic, it is as bad as It is because of the Republican Party and Donald Trump. The US epidemic spiralled out of control because the US didn't react to it soon enough.

In Alberta Kenny allowed US employees in the oil industry to travel for their weekly visits into Washington and Oregon without isolating on return. The feds brought a stop to this. The fundamentalists' Christians running this party are opting in for Herd Immunization, let the bodies fall where they will.

The Conservative party formed in Canada from the US Republican party in 1902. Since that time they have been aping the US position in everything from pipelines to China. Trump is pressing China to mask his own incompetence.

The Coronavirus was identified in California in early January, in Germany in December and in France days later. They didn't know what it was any more than China did. These determinations were made by autopsy.

Conservatives setting us up for the slaughter.

First off, we have in place across Canada Conservative provincial Governments whose origins go back to Christian Fundamentalists and were put into office by Bell Media and their manipulative Post Media Press who are still bending their articles towards pro-Conservative actions more so than even "right Wing"

Quebec's Conservative Government has the highest per capita infection in Canada followed by Alberta.  Quebec are now opening schools in the middle of a pandemic!  This will bring infected kids together and, they will transmit the COVID back to their parents and probably grande parents because there is no daycare available and no plans to check daycare units when they do open.
This supports Herd Immunization, a fundamentalist view.   Quebec did not close their borders at the same time the rest of Canada did, allow transmission between NYC and Montreal.

In Alberta, to make the numbers look smaller and less effective, they have 5 or 6 districts. Which serve to break up the numbers and make this shoddy Government look just a little better.  More especially, they designated oil workers as essential an allowed them to commute between Canada and the Infected states in the US without going through isolation.  This went on for about 2 weeks before the Feds manage to intervene and insist on isolation.  Alberta is the start of this fundamentalism which is alive and well.

All this going on while the virus is mutating!  Once the new strains get entrenched into the human species, all so-called immunization is in the wind.
