On the new Conservative exploration into Nuclear power; the SMR 'smaller' units... China is the world's largest exporter of SMR units, the USA is second. The USA started them out with a 500MW unit (The kind's you see being dropped into place from the bed of a truck.)
China came out at the same time with 1000 MW units at about the same price as the US's 500 unit. The swept the market by offering very favourable finance terms for their units. Westinghouse who builds the US units offered no such incentive but rumoured to offer perks where the Chinese did not.
India, next door to China went with Westinghouse.
Size matters! Alberta has 16,300 MWH of output between all the Companies involved.
Being Conservatives they will not be building their own SMR's they will be buying US: Westinghouse.
This is the time for full disclosure on any deals they are researchings!. There is no advantage to us using SMR,s
They are usually used to shorten power transmission in territories where transmission is not straight forward. A Westinghouse purchase would put our electricity in the pockets of the US as our oil presently is.

I do not care what the price is, DO NOT BUY CHINESE. PERIOD CCP IS Working to take over the world. They have 1,25 MILLION Spys working around the world. The price might be higher BUT wages & costs stay in USA. Robert Allaire
@Robert Allaire @I am a Canadian who has to put up with Americans messing in our Government and Elections. That is something China has not done to date.
I realize the US is in trade competition with China but I do not subscribe to your paranoia over the nation.
